About Toddington Standard Locomotive Limited (TSLL)
TSLL was formed in 2018 with the objective of acquiring, restoring and operating Standard Class 4 2-6-0 no. 76077 on the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway (GWSR).
The company was formed by volunteers on the GWSR, mainly from the steam locomotive department who strongly believed that this engine would be ideal to handle the eight-coach trains on this 14-mile railway, which operates between Cheltenham Race Course and Broadway.
The engine had for three decades lain untouched and almost forgotten but that all changed in late 2017, when the dismantled engine was extracted from its siding where the components had lain for three decades.
In October 2018, the engine’s owner, Chris Hinton – who is a founding director of the company – transferred the engine to TSLL. Therefore, 76077 is now wholly owned by TSLL which is responsible for its restoration and eventual operation.
The management team of TSLL are: Chris Irving (Chairman), Andy Meredith (Engineering Director), Stephen Everrett (Finance Director), Ian Crowder (Marketing Director), Richard Winstanley (Director) and of course Chris Hinton (Founding Director). Also volunteering on the management team are: Rob Merrick (Secretary), Dawn Southall (Share Registrar), Jonathan Perks (Toddington Standard Magazine Editor) and Simon Edmunds (Digital and Social Media Manager).
The company has reached agreement with GWSR Plc to complete restoration of the locomotive at Toddington and to operate it on the railway. The company’s main focus is both to raise awareness of this ideal heritage railway locomotive and to attract sufficient funds to pay for the approximately £500,000 estimated cost of returning the engine to steam.
The company is now offering shares in the company at £1 each in blocks of £120, or by easy payments starting at just £10 per month. Depending on the number of shares purchased, a range of benefits are offered. For details of how to buy shares go to our support page.
Toddington Standard Locomotive Limited is dedicated solely to the restoration and operation of Standard Class 4 2-6-0 no. 76077 and all funds generated will be reinvested in to the locomotive.
